                                  Neurological Center

The Neurological Center at Suining Central Hospital was founded in February 2014, which consists of three inpatient wards, a neurological intensive care unit (NICU), and a neural electrophysiological examination room. It is a first-class neurological diagnosis and treatment center in Sichuan province and a provincial key clinical specialty which integrates medical care, teaching, and scientific research as a whole. It is also a postgraduate student joint training base of neurology, a national standardized residency training base, and a provincial standardized specialist training base.

The center has nearly 200 beds and is staffed by 36 doctors and 51 nurses, among whom there are 5 chief physicians, 11 associate chief physicians, 3 associate chief nurses, and 2 doctors received doctor's degree, 25 received master's degree. Many of the staff act as chairmen, vice chairmen, standing committee members, and members in national, provincial, and municipal medical associations or societies.

The center is equipped with domestically advanced facilities including hybrid operating room, 1.5T and 3.0T MRI, dual source CT, X-ray angiography machine (DSA), TCD, Zeiss & Leica microscopes, Aesculap & Medtronic craniotomy systems, DORO multifunctional head frame, neuroendoscopy system (ventriculoscope and skull base endoscope), intracranial pressure monitor, automatic operating table, brain stereotactic instrument, etc.

The center includes a nationally advanced NICU, in which a multidisciplinary team of specially trained physicians, nurses, therapists, and other professionals provide collaborative and coordinated intensive care for all kinds of critical and severe neurological cases including severe craniocerebral injuries, severe cerebrovascular diseases, consciousness disorders, status epilepticus, and myasthenia gravis crisis, etc. Thorough diagnostic evaluation, careful monitoring, and innovative treatment techniques ensure the best possible outcomes for each patient. The Neural Electrophysiological Examination Room carries out examinations including routine / dynamic EEG, video-EEG monitoring, electromyography(EMG), sensory evoked potentials, non-invasive transcranial Doppler examination, etc.

The center is devoted to excellence in medical care. Experts in all facets of neurology provide compassionate care to patients and their families. They mainly treat patients with the diseases of brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles, such as stroke, spinal vascular diseases, injuries, tumors, and malformations of brain and spinal cord, infective diseases of the central nervous system, epilepsy, headache, vertigo, demyelinating diseases, degenerative diseases(PD, AD), and psychological disorders, etc.

Neurointerventional therapy is a feature of the center, which includes cerebral and spinal angiograpathy, supperselected intra-arterial thrombolysis, mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke, angioplasty and stenting for intracranial and extracranial stenosis, intracranial aneurysm coil embolization, embolization of arteriovenous malformations(AVMs) and dural arteriovenous fistula(DAVF), etc.

The staff members are currently engaged in groundbreaking research and clinical trials mainly involving cerebrovascular diseases, evidence-based medicine, neurointerventional therapy, and cerebral function rehabilitation, etc. They undertake near 10 national, ministerial, provincial, municipal scientific research projects, have achieved several provincial and municipal scientific research achievements, and publish over 30 medical papers in peer-reviewed journals each year.

The staff in the center are united by a common goal: finding new treatments and options that reduce and ultimately eliminate the devastating impacts of neurological disorders. They will work hard to realize the leaping development and upgrade the competitiveness of the center, and eventually to make it an internationalized neurological diagnosis and treatment center which will be leading in the province, first-class in the country, and internationally renowned.
